Supan is a now predominantly residential area on the western side of the town of Comanesti. It was the location of the coal mine which was closed down a few years ago. You can still see many of the old mine buildings on your left as you travel out of Comanesti by rail or road towards Miercurea Ciuc.

Supan rises from the banks of the River Trotus, where the dwellings are largely occupied by gypsies, up the valley side to the small wooden church of St Peter and Paul originally built in 1807. As you walk up the many winding un-made streets towards the church you pass through streets of traditional single-storey houses built round courtyards and nestling behind big fences and gates. These houses are can be large and are generally well-maintained. The part of Supan known as Galeon has been designated for tourist use and around here people are developing small camping and cabin sites for visitors to enjoy. Galeon itself - a flat plain above the town of Comanesti - is used for Zilele Comanestului (Comanesti Days) a fair and music festival held in the summer when the locals and visitors in their tens of thousands come to enjoy themselves. The site is also used for other events such as hangliding festivals.
