RAF Welford

RAF Welford is a depot in the UK consisting mainly of secure, underground storage bunkers where muntions for the US airforce are kept for use in times of war.
It was very well stocked during the Cold war and was only one of many muntions depots throughout not only the UK but Germany as well.

  • The portion known as the depot, or Welford Depot, also goes by the acronym NMSA (pronounced nimzuh). The area is a smaller component of the larger air base. I am going to re-shape the polygon to dileneate the NMSA from the main base.
  • Nothing underground here I'm afraid. Surface bunkers and open storage only!
