The former Cornell Farm mansion is a two-and-one-half-story, late Victorian residence that features a gambrel roof, three gabled front dormers, and an enclosed central portico in a five-bay facade. Interior features include several large fireplaces of brick and stone, and ornate Federal-style mantles.
The original building was known as The Cornell House and had been home to many generations of the Cornell family. It was from the Portsmouth, RI branch of the Cornell family that sprang the late Ezra Cornell, founder of Cornell University.

The Cornell family held the property from 1646 until 1957. Mario Occhi purchased the home and over the next 10 years, added to the original building.
