Seef Mall was one of the first malls to open in Bahrain. It totally changed the way the crowd moved around in Bahrain, during the evening or weekends.
The public of Bahrain is a very out-going, and almost everybody loves to visit the market place everyday. Visiting the market places doent always mean shopping, it is a general outing that they enjoy. These outings during the evening are not only because people are pretty busy all day round, its also beacuse its simply too hot in Bahrain to roam around during the daytime.
For the first time in Bahrain, the people of Bahrain had an option to go to during the day time. The Seef not only housed world class showrooms for clothing, sports-good, electonic items etc. it also boasts a huge food court. Though the cineplex was not there right from the start, Seef quickly became a venue of choice among the youth & elder alike.
Later with the inauguration first cineplex in Bahrain, the crow only had more reasons to be there. Due to the huge popularity of Seef Mall with families, a huge arcade (Magic Island) shortly followed.
Today Seef Cineplex has 16 screens & Magic Island is popular with kids and oldies alike.
These days, malls are popping up in Bahrain like mushrooms, but Seef still is a very very popular spot. It is favored especially by smokers who can smoke freely anywhere in the mall, despite the many "NO SMOKING!" signs everywhere - as highlighted in recent newspaper articles and letters from the public.
www.seef.net/ is an almost useless website which is not kept up to date despite mall management being told to pay attention to things like this.
