Ras Tanura (more accurately Ra's Tannūrah, Arabic: رأس تنورة meaning "top/head of the barbecue spit") is a city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia located on a peninsula extending into the Arabian Gulf.

The importance of Ras Tanura in embracing in its territory one of the largest oil refineries in the world ,two ports for the shipment of oil ,gas plant, a plant for the production of sulphur & the first and largest steam power station in the Middle East. It has a population of about 41,000
