 hotel, skyscraper

550-foot, 55-story modernist hotel completed in 2013. Designed by Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman & Efron, it has plain concrete walls on the sides, and a curtain wall of silver-blue glass on the front facade. The main facade is set back from the sidewalk, with glass doors. A 2-story base with pre-cast stone piers extends out to the building line; it has a glassed-in cafe at the west, and a garage entrance with roll-down metal gate at the east end. The wider center part opens to the recessed entrances. The 2nd level of the base has a terrace behind large glass panes, three in the middle and two at each end bay.

The curtain wall of the main facade behind the base has thin silver metal framing. There are shallow setbacks above the 25th and 40th floors, and there is a rooftop lounge in front of the mechanical penthouse. At each setback, there is a slightly-projecting glass terrace band across the middle of the facade.

The hotel contains 487 guest rooms.
