Batam is an island and city in Riau Islands Province of Indonesia, known for its free trade zone area as part of the Sijori Growth Triangle, is located 20 km (12.5 miles) off Singapore's south coast. The 715 km² (276 miles²) island has a population of 791,605 (2008).

The official language on the island is Indonesian, but due to the sizeable Chinese population, Chinese languages including Teochew, Hokkien and Mandarin are also spoken.

    Batam is nice city for travelling around the world.It's only a small island however batam has it's own culture and the location of Batam island is very very strategi. You look at the sea, the mountains, all beautiful nature scenary make this place become very interesting and nice to stay. We hope in the next few year batam will be populer and will attract more tourist to came and visit us. What are the things make this place interesting? you just look at the map, wow.. wow... Green scenary. it's beautiful, enak dipandang oleh mata. You look at america, singapura, and other top countries of the world, it"s so poor. Poor p-eaple, poor knowldege and many many things, find out yourself... Come and visit us, we have plenty of tradisional foods would like to share with you, we have special tradition and culture, Nice people can bring you like travelling around the world. Second our Government is a nice Government, no corruption anymore, only corrupt little bit, when it needed. It's nature, what wrong? Maybe the pay or salary is so little. We want a clear Govermnmet, tou ask yourself, Have you ever fall in love, have you ever do mistakes? the answer is yes, okf course! That's why, don't blame other people. Blame yourself!     Batam is so beautiful. It is unpretentious. It is so natural not like in nature but good for the human soul. It is still growing and transforming herself. Ha yes perhaps more trees should be planted. It will go a long way to soften and also to quicken the transformation. It is hot. Chilly hot. But I takes it all anytime.
