The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is a full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the more than 235,000 citizens of Lexington County, South Carolina. Headquartered in the Town of Lexington which is located in the metropolitan Columbia or “Midlands” region of South Carolina, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency.

Lexington County Detention Center

The Detention & Judicial Services Bureau of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department manages the County’s detention center (jail) which serves the secure detention needs of the law enforcement community, together with the public safety needs of the citizens of Lexington County by providing humane and safe confinement of inmates who have been convicted and sentenced and for those inmates who are awaiting trial.

The jail facility is located next to the main Sheriff’s Department headquarters complex at 521 Gibson Road in Lexington. The Detention Center usually houses more than 900 inmates at any given time.
