Special Mission: The institution houses adult male offenders mostly sentenced under the Youthful Offender Act. The Youthful Offender Intensification Program, which focuses on the needs of inmates ages 17-25 sentenced by the courts as Youthful Offenders, has four phases. A 256 bed phase I and Phase II unit provides programs including education, work details, and a controlled environment with few privileges.

Phase III inmates are place in the general population with some inmates assigned to a 272 bed Correctional Recovery Academy which deals with substance abuse problems, some being assigned to the Sex Offender Treatment Programs, and some assigned to general population. Additionally, we have 408 beds assigned to the adult straight-time population. The mission is directed by three majors area - administration, operations, and program services. These functions are developed and administered by personnel trained to interact professionally with both inmates and staff.
