‘Īlio Point, 8 miles from Lā‘au Point, is the NW extremity of Moloka‘i. Breakers have been observed about 0.3 mile off ‘Īlio Point during heavy weather. A 293-foot hill is 0.8 mile inland. During the trades, small craft can find fair anchorage 1.5 miles S of the point. The N coast of Moloka‘i is mostly bold, but deep draft vessels should not stand close to the shore. This N coast has no harbor or anchorage that affords shelter in all
winds. [www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/nsd/coastpilot_w.php?book=7] Chapter 14
