The Faculty of Engineering was established in 1999; concurrently with the founding of UNISEL and makes the faculty the oldest faculty in the university. Previously, the focus of the faculty was to support the state demand on the engineering work force, as the State of Selangor was gearing towards achieving the First Developed State in Malaysia. As time goes by, the faculty is now responsible to produce graduates with adequate knowledge, skill and attitude in all engineering disciplines. They are Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, and Mechatronics. At present, the faculty offers 9 programmes as follows;

The faculty is led by a Dean, assisted by a Deputy Dean (Academic) who is responsible in academic matters, a Deputy Dean (Resources) who is responsible for facilities and human resource matters, an Assistant Registrar who is responsible for the administration of the faculty. There are 8 Head of Programmes (HOP) who are reporting to the Deputy Dean (Academic), responsible in managing and coordinating the programmes offered. In addition, there is a Laboratory Manager who is reporting to the Deputy Dean (Resources), responsible in managing the overall engineering and computer laboratories. The overall operation management of the faculty is strengthened by the establishment of 12 units of portfolios.

The faculty recognizes the need to strengthening networking and internationalization in order to be comparable to the best higher education system in the world. In lieu with this need, the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Selangor has stepped forward to work together with international universities. To this end, the Faculty of Engineering, has signed an MoU/MoA with several universities in Semarang and Bandung, Indonesia. This involves Universiti Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Universitas Sultan Agung Semarang (UNISSULA), Universiti Telkom and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung. The main objective is to ensure that Faculty of Engineering, Unisel has its internationalization characteristics to make it one of the hubs for international excellence.
