The building was erected in 1980 for (and, partially, by) the relatively young chair of Nonlinear Optics of the Physical Faculty of Moscow State University. Nowadays it harbours two departments - "Chair of General Physics and Nonlinear Processes" and "Chair of Quntum Electronics". It is one of the leading Laser centers in Russia.
