This nuclear reactor is built and used for research and used weapons grade enriched uranium but since 2005 it uses low enriched uranium.
The HFR also produces of radionucleides for cancer treatment. These materials are sent to hospitals in Europe and transported in lead containers (co called 'cows').
Here at Petten is also a low flux reactor.
