This ski resort dates back to the 1968 with the merger of three properties, Great Gorge North, Great Gorge South (originally Great Gorge Resort), and Vernon Valley as "Vernon Valley/Great Gorge Resort", eventually opening a summer park (now Mountain Creek Waterpark) and a hotel/golf facility (later spun off as Crystal Springs Resort). In 1998, the property was renamed Mountain Creek, which despite some ownership changes remains the name today.
