Beshir is a Shia Turkmen village in Iraq south of Kirkuk. Before the War the village had a population of nearly 6,000. people. The village was captured by ISIL in June 2014. It was reportedly recaptured by pro-Iraqi government forces on 1 May 2016.
According to the latest satellite images from April 2016, this village has been badly damaged due to mnths of clashes and bombardment between Peshmerga and ISIS.
