On 24 January 1958, UEPA was founded firstly as Ukrainian Extramural Polytechnic Institute (UEPI).
In 1990, UEPI was transformed into the Kharkiv Engineering Pedagogics Institute (KEPI).
In 1994, the academy received IV accreditation level and the status of Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy (UEPA).

In 2024, through reorganization, the Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy was attached as a structural unit to the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and UIPA received a new name – Educational and Scientific Institute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy" of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
