  • Nearby mineral was a center of colonial gold mining and mining ran into the 19870's. The gold trend ran SW to NE for a long way, indicating a potential zone of weakness that mineral fluids came up through. Possibly related to the quake.
  • It caused mass chaos and i can understand why. Who knew an earthquake would happen here. i live where earthaquakes happen frequently but they are still scary. they are also scared because it was close to the 9/11 decade anniversary. they have never experienced an earthquake. it was also widespread too. THEY WERE SO BRAVE!!!!!!!!
  • I was in 6th grade math when this happened. We were in the basement of the LC middle school and the cinder block walls instantly started cracking and flaking. Had to go up a set of stairs and out the building cause the basement doors had gotten stuck. It was absolute panic. Most schools weren't even in session yet, but LCPS started their school year nearly a full month before other schools.
