  • Alley primary school was first called Alley free school in the 1800s. An infant school on the adjoining land used to exist. It started in the 1940s or 50s. I remember when the primary school consisted of one wooden building built like that schoolhouse on the TV show, Little House on the Prairie. Then in the early 60s the concrete buildings started to go up. I remember when there was a big water tank in the centre of the schoolyard. That central area was also the playground for cricket and football. Now I feel pride to see the school on Junior School Challenge Quize. The school got its first television set back in around 1964/65. Who would have thought its students would be on national television. Some of its graduates are now very important people like university lecturers, managers, accountants and doctors. Alley school has come a long way. I wish it well.
  • I am proud to say that I am currently on the board of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund which helped the school to bounce back from the hit by hurricane Ivan in 2004. Many schools in Clarendon were helped. Take care of the school so that it can take care of our young ones.
