Last Stiffer stairs is a long wooden staircase leading from the Mountain Road up to Stigbergsgatan on Södermalm in Stockholm. The stairs got its current name in the 1967.
Previous name was Michael stepped alley and Michael Alley, both of which were named after Stockholm executioner Michael Reissue. His name is also found in the Master of Michael Street and Quarter Master Michael. Stockholms namnberedning considered, among other things, that he Michael had been well great honor with all these names. Another reason was the desire to revive an old name from 1834: Last Styfwerns Stairs, who once led the Mountain Road down to Stadsgården.
"Last Stiffer" was a restaurant that was in Stadsgården. Restaurant name in turn belong to the same category as Pung The pain in Skarpnäck and destruction on Långholmen , ie places where you could lose both money and health. The original last penny staircase was demolished in 1899 when Stadsgården broadened.
