The historic Browncroft Neighborhood was developed by the Brown Brothers on the grounds of the Brown Brothers Nursery between 1915 and 1930. Home to many beautiful and historic houses.

Browncroft is an affluent, suburban-style neighborhood in the city of Rochester. Large houses fronted by sprawling lawns and big trees can be found in this area, which includes the Browncroft Historic District. The residential neighborhood attracts many of Rochester’s most prominent public figures in politics and government.

From the 1880's through 1910, the area flourished as the Brown's Nursery site. This glorious confluence of residences and landscape design is the long-lasting gift of Charles J. Brown, president of Brown Brothers Nursery Company, and later real estate developer of the area. Browncroft Reality Company homes were woven into the existing ornamental trees. The Neighborhood remains mostly residential.

The neighborhood was annexed from the Town of Brighton in 1914.
