Caserma Passalacqua was used by the U.S. Army in Southern Europe, called SETAF (Southern European Task Force) from 1956 to 1965, when SETAF Headquarters moved to Caserma Ederle in Vicenza. Passalacqua has always remained in the ownership of the Italian government, and after SETAF moved it was still used for many years by NATO forces in Italy. However, Passalacqua was returned in full to the Italian government, who just recently offered it to (and was accepted by) the Oriental University of Verona (located directly across the street) for use as additional campus and buildings.
