In the upper reaches a magical, even in summer water-bearing river valley,not blighted from the dam, and thanks to the border with Algeria, from tourism. Visitors are shooed in the evening by the Moroccan military patrols (2011) with wild tales of the Algerian military on the western side of the dam slopes. Further downstream, two donkeys know to escape the access of their loudly cursing owners by constant border crossing .
