Oran (Berber: ⵡⴻⵀⵔⴰⵏ Arabic: وهران) (Wahran) know as "El-Bahia" (Arabic: الباهية) means (The Radiance) is a major city on the northwestern Mediterranean coast of Algeria, and the second largest city of the country. It is the economic capital of algeria and one of the important cities in the Arab Maghreb.
The Urban Area of the city has a population of approximately 1.200.000 (2008),(683,250 only in Oran Commune).
According to the interpretation of the most common, Oran is the Arabic word (Wahr) means lion, Wahran means (2 lions).
Oran is a major port, And it is the main commercial, industrial, and educational centre of western Algeria. Oran have an international airport (Es senia International Airport) and 2 Universities ( Es senia Univ, Sciences & Technologies Univ).
