Officially known as 22 and 40 Melton Street, and 1 Eversholt Street; the three buildings were completed in 1980 as the second phase of Richard Seifert's controversial Euston station redevelopment. Orignally nicknamed the "Black Towers" by people in the railway industry because they originally housed most of the HQ of British Rail.

After the railways were privatised in the mid 1990s, they were steadily vacated by the new private rail companies - No.40 became Railtrack House, and was largely vacated by Network Rail who moved most of its HQ to King's Cross - which is jokingly nicknamed the "Black Tower Two" in reference to the original buildings. NR still has a small presence in No.40.

One of the original train leasing companies was housed in No.1 which gave rise to its name - Eversholt.
