Wajir airstrip upgrade is complete.Once opened,the airport would be one of the best with state-of-the-art equipment. It will be able to accommodate bigger aircraf with the runway of 2.8km.It mainly targets international airlines from Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan.
Unfortunately, it is a site of the notorious Wagalla Massacre in 1984 - many ethnic Somalis were detained during inter-clan clashes and several died.
