This museum tells the story of the group of Swedes who followed charismatic self-taught preacher Erik Jansen to the United States. They started here, in Biskopskulla, and founded the Bishop’s Hill colony in America. More than 1200 people joined the movement, and many were educated, skilled or professional. The founder was murdered in 1850, althought the colony still exists. There are audio guides that take you around the museum. There are various items of memorabilia and court records on display here.
