Belding had a population of 5,757 in 2010
Once a thriving city known for its silk mills, the Great Depression took its toll on the mills, but the town continued to thrive. Today it is a still-pleasant small town with an unusual twist -- in 1973, the traditional downtown was torn down and replaced with the "next big thing" -- an enclosed shopping mall. Today the city's architecture is a fascinating juxtaposition of the 19th Century and the 1970s.
