I have personal memories 'cause I spent my compulsory military service there as a draftee in '95-'96. At that time about a 100-120 troops stationed there, most of them drafted for a bit less than a year. The "so called" radar coy consisted of one platoon for each radars (it ment 4-5 platoons), an HQ platoon (a radar coy HQ was not the same as an infantry one - they ran the whole "grafikon-system" and evaluated, coordinated and reported air defense and air traffic datas), a signal platoon, and a logistic platoon for feeding, clothing and transporting troops and maintain the base and technicals. This radar coy had SZT-68U 3D radar, it was the most modern technical on the base, a P14 radar, it was the biggest one, 2x PRV-16 radars for altitude measuring and two smaller radars, a P-37 and a P-18 (which was called "clothes dryer").
This base was closed in 1996 - draftees and young professional soldiers were moved to another military units (e.g. Veszprem, Szombathely) and the "old" soldiers left the Army.
There were a few plans to use this base as a Tourist Center or a Customs Area, moreover a Truck drivers Motel but it looks it is unused and deserted since 96'.
