Ford City Mall opened in 1965 as part of redevelopment of an automobile plant that was built in 1942. It consists of a strip mall portion and an enclosed mall portion. At one time, a subterranean corridor, known as The Connection, links the main mall to the strip mall portion but it has since closed down.
