This entire site was once the Glasgow Meat Market and abattoir, it became a car auction for many years when the meat market moved to a new site in the early '70s. The site was turned over to developers in the late 1990s to be converted into affordable housing.

Graham Square itself - the covered element - was remodelled in 2000, and now acts as a semi-private courtyard containing various artworks for the new houses which are built on the two surrounding wings which feature retained walls from the old Market Hotel, now demolished.

Ironically, the New Meat Market site (immediately to the north) was closed and subsequently demolished in the 1990s. This land now stands empty.
