Bogibeel bridge in Assam, coming up across river Brahmaputra, is touted to be India's longest rail-road bridge, once completed in 2016. The bridge will be a double-deck bridge with a two-line railway track on the lower deck and a three-lane road on the upper. The approximate cost of the project is in the range of Rs 5,000 crore (Dec 2013 estimate). The bridge is meant to connect Dibrugarh in the south to Lakhimpur in the north; the rail link will join Chaulkhowa station and Sisibargaon-Siripani located on the river’s opposite banks.

Bogibeel incidentally will be the fourth bridge across the "unbridgeable" Brahmaputra river.
  • If there are four bridges (the fifth one will be near Dumduma) how can the Mighty Brahmaputra be unbridgeable? It is not.
