  • I was born in Medina Hospital some time believed to have been in 1980. My younger brother, Mo, was born in 1981 in Banaadir Hospital which was a newly-built hospital. My mother was later immensely joyful to have given birth to rest of my siblings in Banaadir Hospital. In 1991, at the height of the battle against Siad Barre, I recall my mother and I were fleeing from that warfare to Medina neighbourhood. As we passed through the gate of Medina hospital on walking by foot, my mother suddenly said to me, “Hey boy, this is where I gave birth to you.” In fact, tonight I am feeling nostalgia for living in London without viewing where I was born and raised. Kudos to you Mogadishu and its Medina hospital.
