Near the city centre is a reasonably safe railway station which provides links to main locations in the Southwest of France and local commuting destinations.
Connected to the Metro line running through Toulouse its very easy to transport your luggage to nearly every hotel and the Youth hostel is walkable but just one stop by Metro.
Watch for early or late trains as the clientele is mainly street sleepers, so maybe leave immediately to find a small cafe in the morning.
