Castle Mailberg is the oldest estate still in possession of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The current structure, fortified with castle walls and a moat, dates back to the 16th century. As most of the orders churches, the castle's church is concecrated to John the Baptist. The church dates back to the 13th century and serves as Mailberg's parish church. The donjon and the church are thus open to public. The castles buildings have been restored and today house a Museum dedicated to the Order of Malta, a castle hotel, a vinothek and a restaurant.
