The department building is named after Dr. R. C. Hiremath, one of the pioneers responsible for this institution. He was instrumental in preserving several ancient manuscripts at this institute and published numerous books along with a group of talented pool of co-workers and students. He was professor and department head for several years before becoming the Vice Chancellor of the University in late 70's.

  • A wonderful dedication to a man who dedicated his life to education. He spent major part of his life preserving ancient manuscripts, some of which are displayed here. He edited numerous books and had an excellent collection of books that has recently been donated to the institution.
