The original Sandston Elementary School was located on the currant acreage at the corner of Naglee Ave. and Union St. 1923 the first school building was an old Army hospital. It was later torn down and the currant structure was built and opened in 1939. Additions were made in 1951, 1955, and 2002. A major renovation was done in 2003. 1977 a fire started by lightening destroyed the clinic, library, and administration office. The students only missed one day of school.
