The public was invited to attend and share in the festivities of the Oxbow Preserve Dedication Ceremony held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Oxbow Preserve.

The City of Napa acquired the 12.7-acre Oxbow Preserve in March 2004 with grants from the Department of Water Resources Urban Streams Program and Resources Agency Proposition 40 River Parkways Program, and sponsorship assistance from Friendsof the Napa Riverand the Trust for PublicLand, and the Parks &Recreation Services Department.

The Oxbow Preserve Park is a prime example of how restoring riparianand wetland habitats can result in the creation of a beautiful recreational park. The Oxbow Preserve project included removal of non-native vegetation, planting of native riparian plants and trees, installation of trails and river-view overlooks, and construction of a small parking lot.
