Butterfield Park on Mount Newton Cross Road at Thomson Place offers walking trails through 5.3 hectares of what was once the South Hill poultry farm.
Today, the Butterfield site remains one of Central Saanich's greatest heritage achievements, receiving the honour of the Hallmark Society's Louis Award in 1993. That year a heritage designation ceremony was held on site, hosted by the same Heritage Committee that had once argued to dismantle it. The house is open to the public one day a year.
