Mt. Whymper is the tallest peak in Canada south of the 49th parallel at 1,539 m (5,049 ft). Involves climbing over clear-cut debris, hiking up a steep trail through a forest and very steep rock scrambling near the end, an easy day trip from Victoria or Nanaimo.
