house, estate (manor / mansion land), prefabricated building
Banksfield Estate, Mytholmroyd, most of which was built in 1947-48 as post-war housing. The typical house on the estate was a pre-fabricated 'tarran' (Newland) construction so as to be cheap, quickly and easily constructed. The houses were only built to be a relatively short term answer to the post-war housing shortage and were only meant to be of use for 20-25 years. In fact the pre-fabs were still being used as council housing until the early 1990s a couple in fact are still unchanged to this day (Jan 2007).
