  • Was stationed at Gremmendorf Kaserne (York Barracks) from 1952 to 1954 with 4 Squadron 6 Armoured Division Signals Regt as part of 20 Armoured Brigade .. Regiment in residence at that time was 17/21 Lancers.
  • I was stationed there in 1966 with The 10th Royal Hussars (PWO) we went there when we got back from Aden.

  • hello. My mother was born in munster in february 1964. My grandfather was serving there 'John Nally' and a month or so after my mother was born they returned to Manchester, England i believe. I am taking her there this weekend 1st november for her first ever visit and i was wondering if anyone knew if there is anything to see there of the former barracks or hospital or plaques, monuments of the time served there? would appreciiate your help as my grandad died before i was born so unfortunatley the information is less than i would of hoped for. craig
  • My dad was in the 4th rtr, I was born in the york barracks hospital in 1976, his name is John McPake.

  • Stationed here with 5Innis DG from 1970 - 1974. Great times and memories. The Skins were not stationed here from 1968 as they were still in Herfordshire until 1970.

  • I was Stationed in York Barracks with 6 Infantry Brigade (206 ) Signal Squadron from 1963 to 1968, We use to go to the Gremondorf Pub outside camp.
  • Are you the Tony who was mates with Tony Hagger, Conrad Bullen & co. I'm Dave Ball, the Int corps lance-jack there from 65 -67. You came from Londons east end, if my memory serves me right & I went to your wedding. Apologies if you are not the same Tony
  • Was stationed at Waterloo Barracks just down from York Barracks Dec 63 to Dec 65 (Royal Hamshire Regt Signal Platoon) and was also the projectionist at the AKC cinema in the centre of Munster round the corner from the Pinkus Muller brewery which is still going strong and owned by the same family

  • Not quite right, in 1969 3rd Carabiniers took over from the 10th H when they amalgamated with the 11th H. The 3rd Carabiniers were there for about 12 months

  • My dad was in the skins we lived in Munster from 69 - 72 as an army brat I loved it there.
