Hajodo (island) is the main island of the group of 154 Jodo islands that resemble a flock of birds, giving the islands their name.

On the northeastern tip of Hajodo is the Hajodo Lighthouse, standing 12 meters high. The beacon can be seen from as far as 39 kilometers away. There is a road and trail up to the lighthouse that provides an amazing view of Dadohae (Sea of Many Islands). Hajodo Lighthouse is responsible for safely guiding ships passing through the Jangjuk waterway, the key route that connects the southern and western coasts. The waters passing between Hajodo Island and Jindo Island move very quickly, making this lighthouse play a very important part in maritime safety.

Hajodo has an area of 10.55 square kilometers/4 square miles with a population 1,806 people (1999). The length of the coastline is 38 kilometers/23.6 miles.
