Founded in 1850 as Hackfield Dry Goods, it became Liberty House in 1918. The present 85,185 sq. ft. store was constructed on the site of the original building in 1979. Liberty House was acquired by Macy's in 2001 after the bankruptcy of Liberty House. It was closed in 2013. It is scheduled to open as a Walmart in the summer of 2014.
