It is believed that while Ravana was taking away Sita to Lanka, her saree brushed on the flat surface of this hill and left a permanent mark. Lord Rama, spotting this mark left by Sita's saree, descended on top of this hill leaving his foot prints there.
Even today it is believed that we can see the Sita's Saree Mark and Rama's Foot Prints. Hence the name Rama Devarabetta.
