Keeper's Dwelling

This structure was ostensibly built by Patrick Gould as part of a keeper’s dwelling for storage in 1838, but was used to house overnight guests for $3 to $4. The practice ended 20 years later when the U.S. Light House Board told then-lighthouse keeper William Gardinier to end the practice. It was transformed into a barn in 1869 and made into a garage in 1937.

  • The dirt area directly in front of the 1838 keeper's dwelling is the location of the original 1796 keeper's dwelling. To the immediate west of the 1796 dwelling was a barn that was constructed circa 1806.
