Built in 1888, it is a late Victorian style, Queen Anne, with Georgian influence. It was the home of Henry Timken (1831-1909), developer of the Timken Roller Bearing. The Timkens were prominent San Diego citizens involved in real estate and the fine arts. They were major beneficiaries of the San Diego Museum of Art and the Timken Museum in Balboa Park. The house has been a private residence since 1965.
