Baleni Village is known for famous Sita ji ki Samadhi, Balmiki Temple, where Sita ji stayed in her last days with her two sons Luv and Kush. This was the ashram of Mahrishi Balmiki the author of epic RAMAYANA.
Baleni is a large village, which lies between 28° 56' N latitude and 77° 27' E longitude on the right bank of the river Hindon. It is about 22 km east of Baghpat and 27 km west of Meerut. Valmiki (Balmiki), the great saint and the author of The Ramayana is believed to have resided here. Sita lived here in exile in Valmiki's hermitage. Numerous ancient burnt bricks with religious motifs engraved on them are strewn all around a temple dedicated to Valmiki. According to local tradition, the village has five guardian deities.
