The monument of architecture of the mid-19th century, a utilitarian construction, an example of the Historicism architecture. The building was constructed during the period of massive reconstruction works of the Chinese Palace, made according to the initiative of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna. The kitchen, intended for serving the tenants of the Chinese Palace, had been earlier located in the Cavalier Block. Then seven service rooms were specially equipped, there was a confectioner's room, room for table-linen, waiter's room, coffee-room, and other kitchen premises. On the first floor there were premises for attendants. The kitchen had an ice-room and a wine cellar. Even now the building has a chimney 19th century.
