  • 34L is the name of the runway, 34 stands for 340 degrees which is the direction of runway, L stands for 'Left' used if there's more than one runway heading that direction, the other runway is 34R and the same runwas from the north is called 16R and 16L (heading 160 degrees (340-180 degrees)), if there is to be a third runway then the one in the middle will is to be called 34C (Center).
