railway, interlocking
Interlocking on the CSX Metropolitan Sub. Former tower on this location controlled the approaches to Washington Union Station on the B&O side. Used a GRS NX panel and had remote control of F Tower on the other leg of the wye as well as Silver Spring crossovers after they were added in the 1970s. Physical plant was reduced around 1990 and the tower was closed due to funding for signaling improvements for MARC train service.
Today it supports a full crossover as well as the branch from the Metropolitan Sub to Union Terminal used by MARC Brunswick Line trains and Amtrak's Capitol Limited.
